TAIPEI (TVBS News) Taipei has seen heavy rainfalls over the past few days, but despite the strong wind and rain on Monday (Oct. 17), students still had to go to class as usual.

Although the weather has not hit the requirement to suspend classes, the Taipei City Government announced that schools in the mountainous regions can make their own decisions accordingly. The Chinese Culture University, located in Yangming Mountain, announced their classes will continue as usual.

"I think the mountainous regions should have different standards since it is a little dangerous in the mountainous areas," said a student of Chinese Culture University. However, the university emphasized that the wind and rain in the Yangmingshan area did not meet the standards to cancel classes for the day, and nearby schools did not suspend any classes either.

At 11 o'clock in the morning, the on-campus observation station measured that the wind speed was 11.6 meters per second, which is equivalent to a Level 6 wind.
