TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is on the rise, and patients are in line to get vaccinated again. "I'm getting my fourth dose. Now, I can get vaccinated anytime. Don't wait until after the pandemic gets more severe again. You will have to queue, and no vaccines might be available," said a patient in line to get vaccinated.
She has already received three vaccines and is here to get her fourth, as the BA.5 is said to be stronger than previous variants. Stations like these begin administering vaccines at 9 a.m. And elders and children have been brought here to get re-vaccinated by their family members.
We can see even the younger generation getting vaccinated once again, as confirmed cases have reached the 30,000 mark in the past six days, with New Taipei seeing 7,000 cases a day. The CECC expects positive cases to cross the 40,000 mark early on Tuesday.
"For groups with relatively high mobility, also known as the younger generation, there is still a 25% chance of being reinfected even if they have already gotten infected. So, if the number of Omicron cases is relatively high, there will be many that will be infected a second time," said Dr. Chiang Kuan-yu.
As Universities are slowly resuming classes, students need to be extra careful. And with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday break right around the corner, doctors are warning that another wave may come our way. Doctors are reminding all that, during the mid-autumn festival, it is essential to stay safe, wear a mask, keep a safe distance from others, and be vaccinated.
