TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Healthy Taiwan Promotion Committee (健康台灣推動委員會) convened for the first time at the Presidential Office on Thursday (Aug. 22). Twenty committee members and nine advisors from Taiwan's medical field discussed various health policies, with a deep focus on maternal healthcare.
Huang Jian-pei (黃建霈), Secretary General of the Taiwan Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology (TAOG, 台灣婦產科醫學會), emphasized the need for enhanced support for pregnant women, including exercise, nutrition, emotional support, and more.
Guo Su-er (郭素娥), president of the Taiwan Dietitian Association ( TWDA,營養師公會全國聯合會), advocated for comprehensive care for high-risk pregnancies.
Lin Te-wen (林德文), president of the Medical Association for Indigenous People of Taiwan (MAIPT, 台灣原住民醫學學會), highlighted health inequalities among indigenous populations. He recommended easing restrictions on telemedicine to reduce travel time for patients and pregnant women in remote areas.
The committee's discussions underscored the importance of addressing diverse healthcare needs across Taiwan. Future meetings are expected to refine these policies further to ensure comprehensive support for all demographics.
