TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) issued a heavy rain advisory for 19 counties and cities on Wednesday (Aug. 14), prompting the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA, 民航局) to remind travelers to stay vigilant for flight updates as several airports experienced delays.
The advisory was prompted by intense convective cloud systems, with warnings for lightning and strong gusts. Authorities urged low-lying areas to watch for flooding and mountainous regions to be cautious of landslides and rising creek waters.
Taipei Songshan Airport (松山機場) suspended ground operations at 11:53 a.m., affecting eight flights, and resumed at 12:45 p.m. Operations were halted again at 1:48 p.m. and resumed at 2:30 p.m., impacting another eight flights. Taichung Airport (台中機場) also paused ground operations at 3:38 p.m., leading to potential delays.
The CAA advised travelers to check flight status updates on airport bulletin boards, electronic displays, and official websites. They emphasized the importance of staying informed about flight changes and contacting airlines for further assistance.
