TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City's Department of Labor (勞動局) revealed on Friday (July 5) that they fined 80 companies a total of NT$6.43 million for violating the Labor Standards Act (勞動基準法) in May. The highest fine, NT$700,000, was imposed on Chun-Security Video System Co., Ltd. (國昀保全股份有限公司).
The department stated that Chun-Security violated Article 30 of the Labor Standards Act by exceeding normal working hours and failing to pay the minimum wage for extended hours. It received the highest fine, NT$700,000. They also noted that the company exceeded the 12-hour daily work limit and faced two to three violations over the past five years.
Other fined companies included Taiyeh Group (台業保全股份有限公司) and Taiwan Security Co., Ltd. (台灣保全股份有限公司), each fined NT$600,000. Bank Sinopac Company Ltd. (永豐商業銀行股份有限公司) received a NT$350,000 fine, while Jumbo Building Maintenance Consultancy Co., Ltd. (喬保大樓管理顧問股份有限公司) and X-selecting Co. (良品嚴選股份有限公司) were each fined NT$300,000.
The department highlighted the top five violations: failure to pay for extended hours on weekdays (31.25%), lack of one rest day every seven days (20%), exceeding legal overtime limits (18.75%), inaccurate attendance records (17.50%), and incomplete wage payments (16.25%).
The department emphasized that employers must comply with wage laws, maintain adequate staffing, and ensure sufficient rest for workers to protect their physical and mental health. They urged companies to avoid repeated violations.
