TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Railways Corporation (台鐵公司) announced Friday (July 5) the resumption of double-track operations between Heping (和平) and Chongde (崇德) starting with the first train No. 4117, which departed Hualien (花蓮) at 5 a.m.
The company suspended services on the eastern main line a day earlier due to a rockfall. Workers discovered the rockfall early yesterday morning at K48+730, which damaged the tracks and overhead wires.
Taiwan Railways Corp. immediately closed the eastern main line and diverted traffic to the western main line for two-way operations. After repairs and test runs, the company confirmed that the tracks, overhead wires, and signals between Heping and Chongde had returned to normal.
Taiwan Railways Corp. stated that the affected section will undergo continuous maintenance, and trains passing through the area will reduce speed to 30 kilometers per hour to ensure safety. The company advised passengers to check train information on its official website or via the Taiwan Railways e-Booking app.
