TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Monday (July 1) that it recently hosted the "2014 Campus Gender Incident Investigation Professional Enhancement Training." The event, led by experts including Wu Chih-kuang, a Fu Jen Catholic University law professor, aimed to delve into campus incidents through real-case discussions.
This initiative comes in the wake of amendments to the Gender Equality Education Act, which strictly prohibits romantic or sexual relationships between teachers and minors and outlines that relationships with adult students must not exploit unequal power dynamics.
The training targeted professionals with advanced qualifications listed in the investigation talent pool. It featured leaders such as Huang Li-chuan, director at National Shiou Shuei Senior Industrial Vocational High School in Changhua County, and Tsai Chia-ling, director at Chang Jung High School in Tainan City.
These sessions focused on enhancing the participants' expertise in legal regulations and case analysis capabilities, particularly concerning administrative relief cases involving teacher-student and student-student gender incidents and cases of professional ethics violations by educators.
Wu Chih-kuang emphasized the importance of understanding the procedures for appeals and administrative relief to handle campus gender incidents effectively. The MOE highlighted schools' need to actively promote gender incident prevention education.
It encourages the participation of Gender Equality Education Committees and personnel responsible for handling campus gender incidents in internal and external training activities. This effort aims to foster a more inclusive and supportive campus environment.
