TAIPEI (TVBS News) — National Security Bureau Director-General Tsai Ming-yen (蔡明彥) said on Wednesday (June 12) that a comprehensive investigation into the motives and potential manipulation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of the Chinese man who illegally entered Taiwan's Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf by speedboat is underway.
The incident occurred on Sunday (June 9), and the man was arrested by Coast Guard personnel the same day.
Investigation into CCP Influence
Previously a captain in the People's Liberation Army Navy, the individual has raised concerns about the possibility of CCP involvement in his unauthorized entry. Tsai stated that due to the man's military background, the National Security Bureau is conducting a thorough investigation into his motives for coming to Taiwan and any CCP influence, along with his activities in China.
Enhancing National Security
The arrest has prompted a closer examination of Taiwan's security measures against potential threats. Tsai's commitment to bolstering national security and preventing similar incidents underscores the importance of vigilance in the face of evolving challenges.
