TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant ceremony held on Thursday (June 6), the Taipei City Police Department witnessed the transition of leadership as Commissioner Li Hsi-ho (李西河) took the helm.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) presided over the event, expressing his high expectations for Li to leverage his experience to enhance the efficiency of police work.
Despite rumors that Commissioner Li was not his preferred choice, Mayor Chiang stated that communication with Li had been smooth and that there were no hard feelings regarding the ceremony.
This transition comes at a time when Mayor Chiang has declared 2024 the year of traffic safety, aiming to realize a "people-oriented traffic" vision and strengthen the fight against financial crimes through public-private cooperation.
In his remarks, Commissioner Li committed to fulfilling municipal duties under the oversight of the mayor and the council. He outlined his priorities, including crackdowns on organized crime, gun control, drug enforcement, and fraud prevention, as key to maintaining public safety.
