TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A delegation from the United States arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday (June 4) to attend the Taiwan-US Defense Business Forum, set to take place on Thursday (June 6) at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC).
Organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, the delegation plans to visit major defense and aerospace industries, including the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation, and meet with President Lai Ching-te and other high-ranking officials.
This year's forum, which is not open to the public, marks a significant increase in participation from the U.S. side, with nearly 30 companies attending, up from 25 last year.
The event will bring together approximately 150 participants, including representatives from local firms and invited scholars and experts.
Notable attendees include leading defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies Corporation, BAE Systems, and Northrop Grumman.
Additionally, MARTAC, a company specializing in unmanned vehicles, will showcase its latest innovation, the Muskie M18 autonomous surface vehicle, which has demonstrated its capabilities in asymmetric warfare during tests with the U.S. Navy earlier this year.
The forum underscores the growing defense collaboration between Taiwan and the United States, highlighting the strategic importance of Taiwan in the Indo-Pacific region's security architecture.
