TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In response to recent discussions on legislative priorities, Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) emphasized the importance of focusing on legislation that benefits the people of Taiwan. Cho stated on Monday (June 3) that it is never too late for the Legislative Yuan to adopt more policies and bills that stand from the perspective of benefiting the people.

Legislative Priorities Shift

This statement came after Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) and members of the Kuomintang (KMT) met for a meal, during which Han called for a temporary halt on contentious legislation in favor of prioritizing bills related to people's livelihoods.

Cho expressed his hope for the Executive Yuan to maintain good relations with all party groups in the Legislative Yuan. He highlighted his recent invitation to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) group as a move to enhance communication.

Clarifying Misunderstandings

Amid allegations of government surveillance, Cho addressed concerns raised about the DPP's policy executive, Wang Yi-chuan (王義川), who was accused of acknowledging the existence of telecommunications surveillance without providing evidence. Cho urged for any misunderstandings to be quickly clarified and called for the investigative authorities to promptly share their findings with the public. He stressed that Taiwan should be a fair and open society, where undue suspicions have no place.

Cho's remarks underscore a commitment to legislative progress that prioritizes the welfare of Taiwan's citizens and a transparent government that actively works to dispel concerns and foster trust among its people.
