TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (氣象署) announced on Thursday (May 23) that due to the influence of a frontal system, various regions across Taiwan are expected to experience brief showers or localized thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon when some areas might see heavy rainfall.
Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) also highlighted a 50% chance of the first typhoon of the season, named Ewiniar (艾維尼), forming but predicted it would not hit Taiwan directly, though it warrants close monitoring.
The weather administration detailed that the current temperatures across the island range from lows of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius to highs of 26 to 28 degrees in the north and in Yilan and Hualien, while other areas could see temperatures between 29 and 32 degrees.
The forecast for the coming week indicates a gradual improvement in weather conditions from Saturday (May 25) to Monday (May 27), with the possibility of localized brief showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon.
