TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President-elect Lai Ching-te announced the sixth wave of appointments to his new government on Thursday (April 25), emphasizing that talent belongs to the nation, with no distinction between old and new, or different eras.
Lai noted that nurturing national talent, particularly in national security, is challenging. He cited the example of the U.S., where many of President Obama's national security team members were drawn from former President Clinton's team.
He further pointed out that many members of President Biden's national security team were from Obama's team, including Biden himself, who was a part of Obama's national security team.
Lai stated that in today's democratic society, unlike the past authoritarian era, all talents are invited to serve the nation and its people, to realize the national development direction of democracy, peace, and prosperity.
Lai's remarks came after rumors that former staff members from the Chen Shui-bian era, including Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General Ma Yung-cheng, would return to the governing team.
