TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) plans to add four additional train services during the Mother's Day rush period from May 10 to 13, 2024, to better serve passengers returning home for a holiday. Ticket sales will open at midnight on April 26.
During the Mother's Day period, THSRC will add a total of 54 extra train services, with 32 heading south and 22 north, providing 693 train services over the four days.
THSRC advises passengers who wish to purchase reserved seat tickets to plan their trips in advance by checking the "Reserved Seat Sales Information during the Rush Period" announcement on the homepage of the THSRC website to avoid peak times of high demand.
To better serve passengers without reserved seats, THSRC will increase the capacity of non-reserved seats during the Mother's Day rush period. Trains running from Nankang to Taichung will all have eight non-reserved seat carriages (Carriages 1 to 3 and 8 to 12). This includes southbound trains from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 10 and northbound trains from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 12.
THSRC will update the "Station Crowd Information" light signal in real-time on its website. If a station has activated crowd control for non-reserved seats, it will display a yellow or red light and will be displayed at the top of the homepage. Passengers can also receive crowd control information through the "T-EX Mobile Ticketing" app.
THSRC reminds passengers that some late-night services during the rush period, including trains 1337 and 1297 on May 10 and trains 1336, 1698, and 1296 on May 12, will arrive at some stations later than the usual last train of the day, with the latest arriving at the terminal station at 12:30 a.m. Passengers should note the arrival times and arrange for transportation after arrival in advance.
