MIAOLI (TVBS News) — Vice President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim stated on Monday (April 8) that Vice President Lai Ching-te has plans for cabinet appointments and will announce them at an appropriate time.
As Lai is set to assume the presidency on May 20, 2024, public attention has turned towards the composition of the new cabinet. Hsiao's remarks came during a post-event interview in Miaoli, where she attended a workshop hosted by the DPP's Gender Equality Department.
Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Chairman Cho Jung-tai is considered a frontrunner for a position in the new cabinet. Other potential candidates include Presidential Office Secretary-General Lin Chia-lung and Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan. Sources within the DPP suggest that Cho is viewed as a reliable choice for the premier's position.
When asked about her involvement in cabinet appointments, Hsiao mentioned she would address the matter in due course and refrained from commenting at the moment.
