HONG KONG (TVBS News) — Dressed in traditional clothing, accompanied by accessories, and set to a touching melody, aborigines from Taitung, Taiwan, showcased their vibrant culture in Hong Kong on March 20. The exchange event aimed to promote tourism between the two locations and attracted more than 30 travel agencies.
Aside from the entertaining performances, traditional clothing was also made available for locals to try on. Pu Ming-cheng, chief of transportation and tourism development at Taitung County Government, remarked, "We want to promote Taitung not just for the sake of promotion but because we truly believe in the beauty of Taitung. As long as the weather is nice, you'll be greeted with this view."
Ng Hi-on, the deputy chairman of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, noted, "Both industries have maintained close contact over the years and have held many two-way promotional and exchange activities." Last year, Hong Kong was the top source of Taiwan's inbound tourists.
To further extend goodwill, the Taitung County Government announced plans to coordinate charter flights between Hong Kong and Taitung, along with subsidies for travelers from Hong Kong of up to NT$4,500 per person.
Taitung hopes to attract more visitors to experience the region's beauty firsthand through these efforts.
