TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Army Command Headquarters announced Sunday (March 24) that the daily food allowance for reserve training soldiers will increase from the current NT$95.7 to NT$97.6, a nearly NT$2 rise.
The Army Command Headquarters believes that due to the high training volume, the trainees have a larger appetite. To ensure they are well-fed and have enough energy, the current standard for the main and secondary food allowance for Taiwan's army soldiers in the island region in 2023 is NT$2,913 per month. Calculated by dividing the annual amount by 365 days, the daily allowance per person is NT$95.7.
The Army stated that the current meal allowance can no longer meet the needs of the training soldiers and the food service. Therefore, it has been proposed that the standard amount of the main and secondary food allowance for the trainees be increased.
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) has agreed to increase the meal allowance for the trainees to NT$97.6 starting in 2024. It will continue to strive for an increase in the main and secondary food allowance for the army based on the actual situation of the entire army's training to meet the actual needs of the training.
