TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet chastised YouTubers "Good Night Chicken" and "Anow" on Monday (Feb. 19), accusing them of selfishly flying to Cambodia to stage a fake kidnapping for their videos, misleading their followers into thinking they had been abducted in the country.
Hun Manet argued that their self-serving stunt would not only harm Cambodia's reputation, but also deter foreign tourists from visiting, causing a loss of income for local people.
On Feb. 12, Good Night Chicken claimed during a live broadcast that they had infiltrated a scam park in Cambodia and were subsequently beaten.
Later on, when police investigated and found their claims to be false, the duo was sentenced to two years in prison on Feb. 15.
The call for justice continued from the country's former prime minister, Hun Sen, who urged the judiciary department a day earlier to refuse any clemency or pardons. He insisted the two must serve their full terms.
