MIAOLI (TVBS News) — Vice president-elect Hsiao Bi-khim attended a Thanksgiving tea party in Miaoli County on Monday (Jan. 29), acknowledging the need for wider recognition in cities and counties that still have room for progress.
During the tea gathering, Hsiao noted that Miaoli and Hualien were tricky areas for her party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Despite such challenges, she expressed gratitude for the local supporters who remained steadfast with the DPP.
Hsiao stressed that work needs to be done in areas with substantial room for progress. Such work includes adjusting communication strategies through propaganda or organizational processes. Hsiao also mentioned that she and President-elect Lai Ching-te are responsible for ensuring Taiwan's overall resource allocation is equitable.
Besides, during a visit to the Baishatun Gongtian Temple in Tongxiao Township, Miaoli County, Hsiao discovered she had tested positive for Covid-19. Lai Ching-te has frequently visited the temple, but it was Hsiao's first visit.
Upon her COVID-19 diagnosis, Hsiao ensured precautions by donning dual masks, refraining from handshakes, and not sharing meals with others.
Arriving at the location of the Thanksgiving tea party, she constantly reminded others to maintain social distancing and promptly left after concluding her speech. As a result of her positive status, all her subsequent activities were canceled.
