TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese actor George Chang on Tuesday (Dec. 26) announced his divorce from Hsu Yun-le, his wife of six years. Following the announcement, Hsu revealed on social media that the cause of their separation was a difference of opinion regarding having children.
"For over six months, tears would well up every time the topic crossed my mind," she expressed on social media, thanking Chang for having cherished and cared for her throughout their ten-year relationship. Diverging views on childbearing led them to part ways after six months of discussions. She explained, emphasizing their decision to give each other the freedom to choose.
Hsu admitted that her persistence in the idea of having kids had led to more than six months of mental turmoil and self-reproach, causing her to question if she was responsible for the breakdown of their marriage.
"We've decided to avoid potential regrets in our future, believing that fate will be sufficient without being pushed," she wrote. "We'll strive for our individual blueprints; we'll be okay."
In closing her post, Hsu declared that she would not inquire into why Chang didn't want children and would not justify her insistence on childbearing to the public. She thanked herself for marrying Chang, noting he was a man of high moral standards.
