TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) spokesperson Zhu Fenglian announced Monday (Dec. 25) that the quantity of Kaoliang liquor passengers can carry traveling directly between the coast of Fujian Province and Kinmen and Matsu islands has been increased from four to six bottles.
This is the second adjustment to these regulations, following an initial change in 2006, which increased the previous two-bottle limit to four.
Zhu Fenglian stated that these adjustments are a response to the desire from residents of Kinmen and Matsu to further loosen these restrictions.
They also contributed to the fulfillment of the State Council's policy directive to support Fujian in exploring new paths for the integrated development of both sides of the strait.
Zhu stressed that China will fully implement measures beneficial to deepening cross-strait integration and enhancing welfare for the Taiwanese.
