TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — StarLux Airlines on Tuesday (Dec. 26) announced plans to start direct flights between Taichung and Macao beginning March 31 with a weekly availability of eight round trips.
After officially establishing a presence in Taichung, StarLux plans to start direct flights from Taichung International Airport to other cities in 2024. Future destinations include Đà Nẵng and Takamatsu, the latter of which will operate under a charter system.
The new Taichung-Macao route will use the A321neo model aircraft, providing 188 seats, including eight in business class and 180 in economy. StarLux Airlines also started selling tickets on Tuesday for its Taipei-Hakodate, Japan route, which is set to launch on Feb. 1, 2024.
Regarding the Taipei-Hakodate route, StarLux sees Hakodate as its ninth destination in Japan and second in Hokkaido. The airline is confident that the popularity of outbound tours in Taiwan will continue, even during the imminent peak travel seasons encompassing the New Year, winter vacation, and Lunar New Year holidays of the first quarter.
In addition to starting flights to Nagoya, Japan and San Francisco, USA in December this year, StarLux further plans to increase aircraft types and frequency for some routes in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia based on market dynamics.
With the planned inauguration of direct flights from Taichung International in the second quarter of 2024, the company intends to provide a fresh flight experience for the central region of Taiwan.
