TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) announced Tuesday (Dec. 26) a new high in recruitment endeavors, planning to hire 1,103 specialists in 18 fields, including power distribution and transmission, substation, and electromechanical in 2024.
According to the announcement, applications for the new positions will be accepted from Jan. 2 to Jan. 15 next year, with preliminary exams scheduled for May 12 at locations in Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien.
Preliminary exam results will be announced on July 16, and the second round is planned for Aug. 6 in Taipei.
Following selection, new recruits will undergo one year of training and the starting salary is set at NT$32,000. Performance bonuses also await, amounting to roughly 4.4 months of year-end bonuses.
Maintenance staff for power distribution lines make up the largest portion of the jobs on offer, with 429 positions, around 40% of the total.
The next highest category consists of 157 posts for general administration workers, including 38 positions reserved for individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
The recruitment drive for the first time is also seeking specialists in the use of power materials and equipment, with three new positions in material management. Other posts are spread out over categories, including transmission line maintenance, substation equipment maintenance, and various other maintenance and engineering roles.
Higher qualifications are required for certain positions. Manual car licenses are required for certain roles prior to the second round of examinations, as is a commercial heavy vehicle license for truck driving and heavy machinery operation roles.
Taipower said the large-scale recruitment is aimed at addressing staff retirements, ensuring stable power supplies and implementing the power industry's goals for net-zero transformation, meeting Taiwan's ongoing stability and environmental needs for energy.
