TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Thai farmer and his team have creatively cultivated three cat-shaped figures in a Chiang Rai province paddy field in Thailand, using different rice varieties to attract tourists and cat enthusiasts.
Inspired by the Thai proverb "There is fish in the water and rice in the fields," symbolizing abundance, Jaikham's paddies depict cats in various poses: one cuddling a fish, another sleeping, and a third yawning.
Farmer Tanyapong Jaikham anticipates tens of thousands of visitors to admire this art. The process involves using GPS coordinates to accurately plant rice seedlings. Thailand, the second-largest global rice exporter, aims to export 8.5 million metric tons of rice this year.
Jaikham hopes to inspire the younger generation and promote art and technology learning through this endeavor, elevating rice beyond a consumer good while boosting tourism and agriculture.
