TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese dramas have had a remarkable year in 2023, with "Oxcart Trails" leading the way with eight Golden Bell Awards nominations. TVBS original series "Living" has also made a strong impact on streaming platforms.

"Oxcart Trails," a Taiwanese period drama in Hokkien depicting early rural life in Taiwan, secured the top spot in annual viewership rankings on both Hami Video and MOD.

"Port of Lies," a series exploring various social issues in Taiwan, including indigenous rights and the death penalty, claimed second place in the annual charts. The lead actor, Christopher Lee, won the Golden Bell Best Actor award, contributing to the show's success.

"Living," starring Wu Kang-ren, delves into family relationships and ranked third on Hami Video's list of top Taiwanese dramas. It also made it to the top ten on both MOD and Hami Video's comprehensive drama charts.

Wu, who received the 60th Golden Horse Best Actor award, has enjoyed significant success in both film and drama in 2023. His film "Abang Adik" also performed well at the box office.

Reflecting on his dedication to acting, Wu expressed, "Drawing on my accumulated experience and energy, I find the ability to extend a helping hand to others and, at the same time, nurture myself."
