TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipower, Taiwan's state-run power company, was awarded the top honor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs' "2023 Buying Power Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration Awards" on Friday (Dec. 15).
The accolade came in recognition of Taipower's collaboration with the Maria Social Welfare Foundation for the procurement of socks made from recycled PET bottles, an eco-friendly initiative in response to the demand for memorabilia at its annual shareholder meeting in 2023.
Taipower has expressed pride in receiving the award for the fifth consecutive year, marking it as the only state-owned enterprise to be honored this year.
The achievement underscores Taipower's commitment, not only to providing stable electricity but also to supporting environmentally friendly products, the company said in a press release.
Following the accolade, Taipower has reaffirmed its intention to continue focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues, and pledged to sustain its responsible procurement practices.
