TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) announced on Saturday (Dec. 9) that with the support of the "Hou-Jaw ticket," the party aims to secure a parliamentary majority and form a coalition government, relying on voters to strategically consolidate their votes at the eleventh hour.

In an exclusive TVBS interview, Eric Chu highlighted that the opposition to the "Hou-Jaw ticket" among competing candidates is relatively low, standing at just 13.6 percent, and it's the second choice for many voters.

Chu also announced the KMT's goal of winning over half of the parliamentary seats and establishing a coalition government when in power. The KMT has made history with its youngest group of legislative at-large candidates, with an average age of 47, reflecting a youthful presence in the KMT's legislative lineup.

Turning to the presidential race, Chu underscored the KMT's steadfast support for its nominated candidate, Hou Yu-ih. The party pledges to vigorously contest the election and believes in voters' wisdom to unite their votes in the final stretch, aiming for a political turnover and challenging the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
