TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen criticized on Friday (Dec. 8) certain political parties for fabricating fake news, in reference to the recent political hoax involving agricultural blogger Lin Yu-hung.
Speaking at a human rights postage stamp release event, Lin had orchestrated a largely fabricated situation, initially garnering support for his claims that his family received threats after exposing issues with imported eggs.
However, it was later revealed that Lin had colluded with a former Kuomintang (KMT) worker to stage the entire scandal, leading to condemnation by Premier Chen.
Premier Chen called the incident deplorable, as it caused public panic and market instability, urging individuals and political parties not to push the boundaries of the law.
He expressed full respect for the ongoing investigative process by judicial authorities, emphasizing the importance of discovering the truth without wrongful persecution or exoneration. The case remains under judicial inquiry, with both the public and government awaiting its conclusion.
