TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen welcomed a visiting delegation led by Montana Governor Greg Gianforte at the Presidential Office Building on Tuesday (Oct. 31).
President Tsai believes that Taiwan and Montana could strengthen industrial partnerships in sectors such as optoelectronics and semiconductors by enhancing the bilateral investment environment.
Recognizing that Taiwan is Montana's seventh-largest trading partner, President Tsai reiterated the shared democratic and liberal values between the two and expressed gratitude to Gianforte for supporting Taiwan's international participation.
Meanwhile, Gianforte considered agricultural trade a significant basis for the Montana-Taiwan relations, as both enjoy a close-knit relationship in agriculture and tourism.
During this visit, the U.S. delegation team will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Taiwan-USA Industrial Cooperation Promotion Office and an association related to the optics industry in the coming days.
