HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Taiwan's military debuted an Apache helicopter with a unique shark design on Thursday (Sept. 21) during a rehearsal ceremony for the grand opening of Hsinchu's Hukou military base.
In a display of the helicopter's high mobility, pilots took to the air and demonstrated a 360-turn while remaining at a fixed spot and its agile M230 chain gun.
CM-11 Brave Tiger battle tanks and CM-32 "Clouded Leopard" armored vehicles were also brought out to showcase their combat capabilities.
"We are currently focusing on equipment that is ready for combat," an officer from the 6th Army Corps Command said.
Meanwhile, newly purchased U.S.-made Indian Challenger motorcycles also made an appearance.
"Compared to the Royal Stars, in terms of weight, wheelbase, suspension, and the introduction of a new monitoring system, the new motorcycles allow the riders to maneuver in the face of adverse terrain and weather conditions and make different adjustments," Wu Chien-hsing, a commander of Military Police's Quick Response Company said.
The Hsinchu military base will be open to the public on Sunday (Sept. 24).
