NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) unveiled a comprehensive set of policies aimed at bolstering public health and extending support to vulnerable groups on Wednesday (Nov. 6). Among the initiatives is the expansion of the free rotavirus vaccination program, now set to include infants and young children in special family circumstances.

New Taipei City distinguishes itself as the sole major city to fully subsidize anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) testing for women, providing them with improved management over their reproductive health. Additionally, plans are in place to inaugurate community mental health centers in Luzhou (蘆洲) and Tamsui (淡水) districts this month, aiming for a total of 11 centers citywide by 2030.

The city government has formed partnerships with 20 universities and colleges to advance youth mental health care and continues to enhance related facilities. Commissioner Chen Ran-chou (陳潤秋) of the Department of Health (衛生局) emphasized last year's high-risk prevention efforts for HIV and respiratory diseases, with an ambitious goal of eliminating hepatitis C by 2025.

Furthermore, New Taipei City has prioritized the development of dementia-friendly communities, establishing 3,000 dementia care stations citywide this year. These initiatives underscore the city's dedication to ensuring a sustainable and healthy future for its residents.
