TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Taiwan's top shooters are gearing up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, aiming to bring home medals. Yang Kun-pi (楊昆弼), a 25-year-old bronze medalist in men's trap at the World Shotgun Championships, is among the athletes preparing for the event. Yang has previously competed in the Tokyo and Rio Olympics; this time, he aims to bring home the gold.

Lin Yi-chun (林怡君), another Taiwanese shooting star, is set to compete in her fifth Olympics. Lin will participate in the women's trap shooting event.

Meanwhile, Wu Chia-ying (吳佳穎), who finished fifth in the women's 25-meter pistol event at the Tokyo Olympics, will also represent Taiwan this time, marking her third Olympic appearance.

Tien Chia-chen (田家榛), a 40-year-old top shooter known as the "Mommy marksman," will also participate in the women's 25-meter pistol event. Tien initially planned to retire after giving birth in 2018 but decided to continue competing.

Newcomers are also making their mark. Lee Meng-yuan (李孟遠) created a historic moment for Taiwan in 2023 by becoming the first Taiwanese to qualify for the men's skeet shooting event at the Olympics. Olympic first-timer Liu Wan-yu (劉宛渝), a women's trap shooting contestant, is also striving to showcase her skills on the global stage.

Yang and Liu emphasized the importance of maintaining a stable mindset during competitions.

Taiwan has eight athletes qualified for the shooting events in Paris. These top shooters are ready to perform at the highest level and aim to bring glory to Taiwan.
