TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Minister of Transportation and Communications Li Meng-yen inspected the "Tamkang Bridge and its Connecting Road Construction Project" on Tuesday (May 21), revealing that the project is ahead of schedule by approximately 66% and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Li highlighted that this project is one of the key initiatives driven by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) and, upon completion, will not only become a significant new landmark for Taiwan but will also greatly improve the external transportation of the Tamsui area.
During his speech, Li mentioned that Premier Cho Jung-tai places great importance on major public construction projects like the Tamkang Bridge. This led to the bridge being the first site Li visited after taking office, where he instructed the Highway Bureau to fully grasp the project timeline.
The design of the Tamkang Bridge integrates the landscape of Tamsui's sunset, architectural art, and engineering technology, showcasing the advancement of Taiwan's bridge engineering.
Li emphasized the innovative construction methods and breakthrough engineering technologies being used in the project, especially given the increased difficulty of working in the high-salt content coastal area. He expressed satisfaction with the construction team's performance, thanking them for their dedication to ensuring the bridge's 120-year lifespan.
