TAIPEI (TVBS News) — With the deadline for income tax filings looming on May 31, The National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance (財政部臺北國稅局), announced on Wednesday (May 22) that approximately 4.68 million filings have been completed.

This figure represents about 71% of the total filings expected for 2023, leaving 30% of the population yet to file with just 10 days remaining, the taxation bureau stated.

The bureau has emphasized the simplicity of filing taxes via mobile devices. Taxpayers do not need to install any app but can directly access the "Ministry of Finance Electronic Filing and Payment Services" website.

By selecting the "I want to file taxes" option and verifying their identity through one of three methods—mobile phone authentication, household registration number plus inquiry code, or mobile Citizen Digital Certificate—taxpayers can easily enter the filing system.

In a move to encourage more taxpayers to use the mobile filing system, the National Taxation Bureau is offering a chance to win a prize of NT$200,000. This incentive aims to boost participation rates as the filing deadline approaches.
