TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A power outage on the Taiwan High Speed Rail (高鐵) disrupted service on Tuesday (May 21), leaving passengers in the dark and causing delays. The incident occurred on train number 125 from Taipei to Zuoying, shortly after the train had arrived at the station.

One passenger reported to TVBS News that the lights inside the carriage went out as soon as the train stopped at the station, stating, "Everyone seemed unfazed, but I found it quite strange."

The darkness inside the carriage was attributed to a power outage at a substation, as announced over the train's PA system. The announcement explained that the train would make an unscheduled stop due to the outage.

The power outage led to a dimly lit carriage, with only three lights functioning, causing passengers to take their seats more slowly than usual. "The train arrived at 11:28 a.m., scheduled to depart at 11:31 a.m., but it didn't start moving until 11:35 a.m.," the passenger recounted.

After several announcements, the lights came back on, and the train was ready to depart. A subsequent announcement informed passengers of a 10-minute delay to Banqiao and asked for their understanding.
