TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Chairman and President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德) announced on Wednesday (May 15) a zero-tolerance policy against fraud, emphasizing that combating scams is one of his top concerns.

During a Central Standing Committee meeting, Lai stated that the new government would continue to allocate resources, firmly fight against fraud, and strengthen social safety.

Lai revealed that the Executive Yuan recently passed a draft for four acts to combat fraud, which will be submitted to the Legislative Yuan for review as soon as possible. The new legislation aims to deter crime by increasing penalties and adding investigative tools to address new types of crimes.

This move underscores the government's commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to fraud, with Lai affirming the future government's dedication to resource allocation and firm action against scams to protect social order and citizens' property.

In coordination with major financial institutions, the Financial Supervisory Commission (金融監督管理委員會) is discussing implementing additional risk control measures for third-party payments and audits to ensure the financial safety of the public.

Lai's announcements reflect a comprehensive approach to safeguarding Taiwan's societal and financial security, highlighting the government's proactive measures against fraud and public health threats.
