KMT legislator challenges Taiwan‘s secrecy over Ukraine aid (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) Legislator Hsu Chiao-hsin fired back at Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Wednesday (May 8), questioning why information publicly available in the Czech Republic was being concealed in Taiwan.

Hsu had previously accused the Taiwanese government of favoring specific companies in a Ukraine aid plan signed with the Czech Republic. She had released content from Ministry documents, leading to her being accused of leaking classified information under the Criminal Code.

Hsu pointed out that the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs had made related information public in March, showing that with the support of the Taiwanese government, it was assisting Ukraine with a total amount of approximately US$10 million.

Hsu questioned why 30 to 40 percent of Taiwan's medical material procurement completely bypasses Taiwan's Government Procurement Act and doubted whether it was the real reason for the Ministry's lawsuit.

She emphasized that the information was publicly available from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and not classified. She questioned the fairness of Taiwan's selection of medical material suppliers, asking if only those friendly with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) were privy to the information.

Hsu also questioned how the flow of funds, which evades supervision, could be proven to have been used for aid to Ukraine. She retorted to the MOFA, "What exactly are you accusing me of?"
