TAIPEI (TVBS News) — For the first time, the presidential inauguration banquet will be held in Tainan. The unveiling of two major gift bags for guests on Tuesday (May 7).
The contents of the two gift bags are diverse, including top-grade Beimen flower of salt, pineapple cakes, and bread from Wu Pao-chun, a gold medalist at the World Cup of Baking. The gifts are packaged in a "grandma bag," a product of Tainan's Sigang rush weaving craft, known as the "LV of Taiwan," embodying the spirit of "the more local, the more international."
Wu Pao-chun, in his quest for suitable ingredients, once visited Lai Ching-te, then mayor of Tainan, and chose to use longan from Tainan's Dongshan District, combined with Taiwanese black sugar, to create a special bread for the state banquet.
Each "grandma bag" is handmade and adorned with the presidential office emblem, preserving Taiwan's traditional flavor while incorporating modern trends. These limited-edition bags, filled with curated gifts, hold significant meaning and will be presented to foreign guests attending the state banquet.
