Taipower launches special inspection to curb Taoyuan outages (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a proactive move to prevent further power outages, Taiwan Power Company (Taipower, 台電) announced the launch of a special inspection project in Taoyuan, starting on Tuesday (May 7).
Led by Taipower's Taoyuan District Office Director Huang Chih-jung (黃志榮), the initiative will see the participation of 180 personnel dedicated to ensuring the reliability of the power supply.
Proactive Measures Against Power Failures
Huang Chih-jung (黃志榮) spearheaded the inspection team on Monday evening, focusing on the distribution equipment inspection, fault indicator installation, and infrared testing of power supply equipment.
He emphasized that the inspection would cover all Taipower's supply equipment, aiming to identify and rectify potential issues before they lead to failures.
This initiative comes in response to an increased frequency of power outages in the Taoyuan area since April 16, prompting the mobilization of at least 40 personnel from other districts to support the existing 120 emergency repair staff and 20 daytime maintenance workers.
Ensuring Power Stability
The inspection team will first examine the equipment's exterior for potential animal interference paths and reinforce these areas to prevent access.
They will then assess the operational integrity of the equipment, including checking for any leakage. Fault indicators have been installed on operational equipment to facilitate this process, with older equipment being replaced as necessary.
Temperature measurements of switch bodies will also be conducted using infrared thermometers to detect any abnormalities, leading to maintenance work orders for updates to prevent future outages.
With these comprehensive measures, Taipower aims to enhance the reliability of its power supply and minimize the inconvenience caused by unexpected power outages in Taoyuan and beyond.
