Indonesia eyes Taiwan’s excellent earthquake response (TVBS News)
INDONESIA (TVBS News) — Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin praised Taiwan's disaster management efforts on Wednesday (April 24), saying the country's ability to minimize casualties and damage after earthquakes makes it one of the most exemplary nations in this field.
Speaking at a national disaster management coordination meeting in Bandung, Amin emphasized the importance of Indonesia learning from developed countries' experiences in disaster management. This includes disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, emergency response, recovery, and reconstruction.
Amin believes that Indonesia should learn from the experiences of developed countries in using technology in disaster management and focus on innovative development. He sees this as a crucial key to achieving early disaster prevention actions.
The vice president's comments come as Indonesia, a country prone to natural disasters, seeks to improve its disaster response capabilities. Taiwan's effective disaster management strategies, particularly in the aftermath of earthquakes, have been recognized globally.
