TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen expressed his respect for the cabinet appointments on Monday (April 15), stating his belief that the future cabinet will achieve the goal of an "active and innovative cabinet" to make Taiwan a better place for all.
This comes after President-elect Lai Ching-te recently announced the first wave of cabinet members, sparking debate as Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan was not included.
Lai Ching-te announced that the first Premier of the new government will be former Cabinet secretary-general Cho Jung-tai. Cho Jung-tai subsequently announced the first wave of cabinet members, which includes Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun, former Minister of Culture; Secretary-General Kung Ming-hsin, National Development Council Minister; and Chen Shih-kai, who previously served as the spokesperson for Lai’s campaign office and has now been appointed as the spokesperson for the Executive Yuan.
Chen Chien-jen also shared his future plans. After May 20, he will return to the Academia Sinica to continue his academic research work, which he enjoys and is most willing to do. The reshuffling of the cabinet and the Premier's future plans have drawn attention to the upcoming changes in Taiwan's political landscape.
