HUALIEN (TVBS News) — Monday marked the sixth day of intensive rescue operations in Hualien following a devastating earthquake, with the death toll at 13 and six individuals still unaccounted for. A specialized drone team from Turkey arrived on Sunday, equipped with three drones to bolster Taiwan's disaster relief efforts and locate those missing.

The Turkish team deployed three types of drones, including a sophisticated fixed-wing UAV capable of vertical takeoff and landing. They shared 3D images of the disaster zone after completing three mission flights. Yet, the rugged terrain of the Shakadang area allowed only two successful imaging missions.

"The Turkish experts primarily provided aerial shots, offering technical support," said the Taiwanese special search team leader. Meanwhile, the Hualien County Fire Department plans to employ heavy machinery for excavation, shifting to smaller tools or manual digging near bodies to maintain their integrity.

Suspected to be trapped along the Shakadang Trail in Taroko Park are five of the missing, including three members of the Yu family from New Taipei. A missing Singaporean couple is believed to be near the trail's 1.5-kilometer mark. The area is a focus of the search, with additional personnel and dogs deployed in a relentless effort to find the missing.
