TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Following the devastating earthquake in Hualien on April 3, which claimed 13 lives, the Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief has raised over NT$140 million in donations as of Sunday (April 7).

The Executive Yuan has tasked the foundation, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, with managing the funds. The money will be used specifically for disaster relief, emergency medical aid, shelter, and reconstruction efforts.

The foundation launched the "0403 Hualien Earthquake Fundraising Program" on April 4. Of the three main donation channels, LINE Pay received the most contributions.

According to the foundation's statistics, as of 11:59 p.m. on April 7, the total number of donations reached 95,442. The total amount received was NT$140,024,464. The donations were divided among the Land Bank of Taiwan account with NT$33,548,386, the online fundraising platform WaBay with NT$31,081,878, and LINE Pay with NT$75,394,200.

The fundraising program was launched over the holiday, so there were no over-the-counter remittances.
