Ma meets with China‘s TAO Director in historic visit (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former President Ma Ying-jeou met with Song Tao, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO), on Monday evening (April 1), and together they enjoyed a drone show after dinner.
The meeting took place at the Shenzhen Wuzhou Guest House, a venue that has previously hosted Han Kuo-yu and the late Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
During his first night in China, Ma met with Song, and the latter expressed that compatriots on both sides of the Strait are one family and should interact more, sharing the responsibility of revitalizing the nation.
Ma emphasized the importance of the 1992 Consensus and stressed that cross-strait relations need to be peaceful and stable to ensure the welfare of the people on both sides and to achieve the greatest interests of the Chinese nation.
After dinner, Ma and Song went to a park in Shenzhen to watch a nighttime drone show. China's reception on Ma's first day of his visit centered around the theme "integrating the two sides to create the future together."
Ma's meeting with Song and the subsequent activities underscore the ongoing dialogue and cultural exchange between Taiwan and China, highlighting the shared responsibility and mutual benefits of peaceful cross-strait relations.
