TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former President Ma Ying-jeou embarked on his second trip to China on Monday (April 1). His itinerary has been questioned by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) caucus whip Rosalia Wu.

Wu expressed concern over Ma's reaffirmation of his support for the 1992 Consensus on the day of his departure. She argued that Ma's stance implies that Taiwan is not a sovereign nation, and that he is not carrying the blessings of the Taiwanese people, but rather their dissatisfaction and resentment.

Wu also questioned whether Ma's actions truly represent the majority opinion in Taiwan, or if they are merely the delusions of a stubborn minority. She believes that Ma has failed to convey the true and dominant public sentiment.

Wu pointed out that Ma, who once referred to himself as a "new Taiwanese," seems unwilling to even mention the name "Taiwan" in 2024. She sees this as an ironic development.

Wu reminded Ma that his departure coincided with April Fool's Day. She advised him to be cautious in his words and actions during his trip, to avoid turning it into a fool's errand. She urged him to represent Taiwan properly, by saying the right things and doing the right things.
