President Tsai discusses pressures of leadership (Presidential Office)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen humbly expressed on Thursday (March 28), that she has yet to feel a strong sense of accomplishment during her eight-year term, acknowledging the daily pressures and challenges of her role.
Tsai made the remarks during a visit to the National Penghu University of Science and Technology, where she engaged in a discussion with students. When asked about her achievements and challenges during her tenure, Tsai pointed out the pressures she experienced on a daily basis as president of Taiwan.
She mentioned that if she were to speak of a sense of accomplishment, it would probably be her re-election in 2019. She noted that the pressure is immense when the outcomes of her actions are not yet visible to the public. For her, being president is all about pressure, with little sense of achievement.
During her talk with the students, Tsai highlighted the importance of the university as a key technological institution in Penghu County.
She praised the university's role in nurturing talent, aiding local industry upgrades, and promoting regional development. Tsai expressed her hope for the university's continued growth and its potential to drive local progress.
Addressing the reconstruction of the university's administrative building, Tsai noted that the assessment report has been submitted to the Executive Yuan's Public Construction Commission for review. She expressed confidence that with the concerted efforts of various ministries, the review process will be expedited to improve and resolve the campus safety issues at the university.
