China warns against Taiwan‘s ‘provocative‘ military drills (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China's Taiwan Affairs Council spokesperson, Chen Pin-hua, warned on Wednesday (March 27), that China is closely monitoring Taiwan's military activities and will not tolerate any provocation.
The statement comes as the Kinmen Defense Command announced plans to conduct live-fire drills in April, a move that has drawn significant attention from China. Chen questioned whether these exercises were routine training or targeted provocation.
Chen emphasized that the people of Kinmen have made the right choice between "firing cannons" and "building bridges."
He criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for being willing to become a pawn of external forces to "contain China," continuously provoking independence, even at the risk of sacrificing the lives and welfare of the Taiwanese people.
Chen's remarks were seemingly pointed toward the United States Indo-Pacific Command's recent claim that China is preparing for a "military invasion of Taiwan" by 2027, a statement that has been taken seriously by Taiwan's military.
He reiterated that "Taiwan is China's Taiwan."
"Resolving the Taiwan issue and achieving complete reunification of the motherland is the common wish of all Chinese children and a sacred mission and just cause," Chen said, adding that "when and how to resolve the Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affairs and does not tolerate any foreign interference."
