TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hsiao Hsu-tsen, the executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, said Tuesday (March 26) that he is ready to face the smear campaign of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and will confront it head-on. This comes as former President Ma Ying-jeou is set to visit China for the second time in April, sparking questions from the DPP.

Hsiao questioned the motives of the DPP, stating that anyone hindering cross-strait peace is betraying Taiwan. He urged the DPP to address the Sudan Red issue before launching smear campaigns.

Hsiao emphasized that the constitution of the Republic of China is a one-China constitution, with China being the mainland region. He believes the DPP should respect the constitution instead of engaging in infighting, smearing, and stigmatization.

The internal crisis in Taiwan under the DPP's rule, according to Hsiao, stems from the DPP's reluctance to amend the constitution and unwillingness to respect it. He criticized President Tsai Ing-wen's new two-state theory, arguing it violates the constitution and exacerbates cross-strait tensions.

Hsiao questioned the DPP's attitude toward peaceful unification and urged that constitutional issues be faced. Otherwise, Taiwan will fall into endless strife and division.

As Ma's upcoming visit to the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor in Shaanxi is expected to face criticism from the DPP, Hsiao pointed out that past figures, including Lai Ching-te, Lee Teng-hui, and Chen Shui-bian, have also visited the mausoleum.

Hsiao believes that the historical and cultural ties between the two sides of the strait are inseparable, and the government's refusal to worship at the mausoleum disregards the significance of Chinese culture, leading to confusion.
