Premier: electricity price hike with considerate adjustments (Courtesy of Executive Yuan)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen said on Tuesday (March 26) that meticulous consideration has been given to the upcoming electricity price hike, with adjustments made best to accommodate the needs of different businesses and groups.
The price of electricity is set to rise in April, sparking concerns about whether the central government will provide subsidies to the metro, Taiwan Railways, and the Taiwan High Speed Rail.
Chen pointed out that the government has already introduced TPASS, a measure to ease the financial burden of transportation for Taiwanese people. He said the government will continue to use this method in the future.
Since the launch of TPASS in June 2023, both commuters and students have found it very convenient, and the use of public transportation has significantly increased, Chen said.
Chen added that the government will continue to use TPASS to help people cope with their transportation costs, aiming to provide a comfortable, convenient, and safe public transportation system.
