Northern Taiwan braces for cooler temps and showers (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Northern Taiwan is expected to experience slightly cooler temperatures and a shift from cloudy to overcast skies with brief showers on Tuesday (March 26), due to the influence of a weather front. As the front moves south, rainfall will shift to the eastern half of the island.

WeatherRisk meteorologist Fang Jun-yuan noted that conditions were generally stable across the island on Monday night into Tuesday morning, with no significant rainfall. Morning lows were generally between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, with Hualien and Taitung experiencing cooler temperatures due to clearer skies and radiative cooling.

As the weather front moves south on Tuesday, the northern region will see a shift from cloudy to overcast skies and brief showers. Rainfall will move to the eastern half of the island as the front progresses. The northeastern monsoon will bring relative stability to the central and southern regions, with generally sunny to cloudy skies and occasional showers in the mountains in the afternoon.

The northeastern monsoon will gradually weaken on Wednesday, with the eastern region experiencing mostly cloudy to overcast skies and occasional brief showers.

Temperatures are expected to rise again on Thursday, but a weak front will pass in the evening, worsening weather conditions in the central, northern and eastern regions. Brief showers are still expected in the mountainous areas in the afternoon.
